Dimension 3D Printing Group Selected For Second Consecutive Year as a Key Technology Supplier to Project Lead the Way
Industry-leading Dimension provides educators advanced 3D printing systems to encourage student interest in engineering careers
MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
The Dimension 3D Printing Group, a business unit of Stratasys, Inc. (Nasdaq:SSYS), announced today it has been selected for the second consecutive year by Project Lead the Way(R) (PLTW) as a key technology supplier to schools in the organization's nationwide engineering program. Through PLTW, the Dimension 3D Printer is promoted as an advanced design tool to raise student interest in engineering careers. PLTW is a not-for-profit organization that promotes pre-engineering courses and technologies for middle and high school students.
Building on the success of last year's partnership with PLTW, Dimension will continue to help high schools, technical colleges and universities extend their science, computer-aided-design (CAD) and machine tool curriculums by enabling students to build functional 3D models. Dimension 3D Printers provide an affordable, easy to use, one-step process for students and instructors to explore concepts in durable ABS plastic.
"Providing students across the nation with Dimension 3D printers and other cutting edge technologies advances PLTW's mission to encourage the pursuit of careers in design and engineering," said Tom White, director of technology for PLTW. "Dimension has been an important partner over the last year in helping to educate our future engineers, providing 3D printing systems and sponsoring multiple on-site training sessions. Dimension also supports tomorrows designers and engineers with its popular Extreme Redesign student design contest."
PLTW forms partnerships with public schools, higher education institutions and the private sector to increase the quantity and quality of engineers and engineering technologists graduating from educational systems across the United States. Today, the programs are offered in more than 1,700 schools in 46 states and the District of Columbia. For more information, please visit www.pltw.org.
"Project Lead the Way is a first-rate organization with an important mission, and we are thrilled to again be partnering with the program as a key technology supplier," said Jon Cobb, vice president and general manager of 3D printing for Stratasys. "To date we have placed over 100 Dimension 3D printers in PLTW schools. As schools continue to adopt innovative technologies like 3D printing into their engineering curriculums, more students are benefiting from a wide variety of engineering skills and experiences. Going forward, we are confident this training will serve not only individual students, but the future of design and engineering as a whole."
About The Dimension 3D Printing Group
The Dimension 3D Printing Group is a business unit of Stratasys, Inc., based in Minneapolis, Minn. Dimension 3D printers - which include the Elite, the Dimension 1200 Series and Dimension 768 Series - are networked, desktop modeling systems that provide CAD (Computer-Aided-Design) users a fast, office-friendly, low-cost alternative for building functional 3D prints. Dimension 3D printers build accurate models layer by layer using durable ABS plastic, allowing users to not only evaluate design concepts, but test 3D prints for functionality, form and fit. As the first large format desktop 3D printer that sells for less than $30,000, Dimension incorporates many key features found in modeling systems that cost tens of thousands of dollars more.
